About
Two lawyers, one Midtown office, and a decision made in 2011 to practice law the way families can actually follow.

Since 2011
Two lawyers who left big firms for plain English
Hartwell Reyes Law opened in 2011, after Claire Hartwell and Daniel Reyes left large firms where clients were billed by the minute and told as little as possible.
They wanted a practice where a Phoenix family could sit down, ask what a will actually does, and leave knowing the price. Midtown was the obvious place for it.
The work is wills and trusts for people planning ahead, uncontested divorces and custody matters for people in the middle of a change, and probate for families settling an estate. Weekday appointments fill the calendar; evening calls are arranged when a work schedule makes a daytime visit impossible.
What people bring in is rarely tidy. A folder of old papers, a house, a retirement account, a name that needs to be taken off a deed. Part of the job is sorting what matters from what does not, and writing down the rest in words a family can follow.

We say when not to sign
If a document is not worth signing, we tell you so, in words anyone can follow.
- 02
The fee comes first
You see the flat fee or the hourly rate on the agreement, and you keep a copy of it.

The line stays open
The case may close, but you can still call with a question that comes up months later.
